St. Patrick's Day

March 17

Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day by identifying the Character Quality associated with the following Irish proverbs:

Complain that you have no shoes until you meet a man who has no feet. (Gratefulness)

Many a ship is lost within sight of the harbor. (Determination)

It’s not a delay to stop and sharpen the scythe. (Wisdom)

A good beginning is half the work. (Initiative)

Sunshine always follows rain. (Positivity)

After sharing the list, you may want to decorate a Shamrock shape with one of the proverbs. Another idea is to identify the three or four character qualities you feel bring you luck and write them in a 3 or 4 leafed shamrock.

When you are done, process it with these or similar questions:

  • Did you like the proverbs?

  • Which was your favorite?

  • Can you identify qualities that you think “bring you luck”? Why?

  • The next time you need some luck, will you think of these proverbs or your favorite qualities to put you on the right path to good luck?
