Who We Serve
We serve people and organizations who want to build character in everyday life.
Our resources are designed to help schools, workplaces, families, and faith communities teach, model, and practice character qualities in meaningful, practical ways. Whether you are guiding students in the classroom, leading a team at work, encouraging character at home, or connecting faith to daily choices, Character Council provides tools that make character development easier to understand and apply.
For the Classroom
We support educators, students, and school communities with character education resources that encourage thoughtful choices, respectful relationships, and personal growth. From classroom activities and curriculum connections to discussion prompts and reflection tools, our school resources help make character the foundation of the learning experience.
For the Family
We provide families with simple ways to talk about and practice character in daily life. Our home resources include conversation starters, activities, and affirmations that help parents, caregivers, and children grow together through everyday moments.
For the Workplace
We help leaders, teams, and organizations strengthen workplace culture through character-based leadership, practical discussion tools, and professional development training and workshop opportunities. Our workplace resources encourage collaboration, responsibility, respect, wisdom, and other qualities that build trust and support healthy, productive teams.
For the Faithful
We equip churches, ministries, and faith communities with resources that connect character qualities to spiritual growth and daily discipleship. Through faith-based activities, reflections, and discussion tools, we help communities explore how character is lived out through faith.
State and National Schools of Character
Recognition Program
The National and State Schools of Character program, sponsored by character.org (formerly CEP, The Character Education Partnership), is a free school improvement process that has offered self-assessment and expert feedback to U.S. schools and districts engaged in character education since 1998. The Character Council, in partnership with character.org, evaluates the annual State Schools of Character (SSOC) applications in Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana. Learn more about applying for the SSOC/NSOC awards by downloading the SSOC application. The application opens in June and is due in November.
Host a Character Carnival
Bring character education to life with fun, hands-on carnival games designed to teach and reinforce positive character qualities. Each game gives participants a chance to play, succeed, and connect the activity to a meaningful character lesson through simple conversation prompts.
Character Carnival games are a great fit for field days, summer camps, church festivals, block parties, family events, elementary schools, scout gatherings, and more. Games can be rented for single-day use, with written instructions included for each booth and optional delivery, setup, and attendants available for an additional fee.
Whether you want to focus on one specific quality or create a full character-building event, the Character Carnival makes it easy to combine fun, learning, and meaningful conversations.

Notes
The structure of the games is set up so that the players are successful at the game. There are no prizes for ‘winning’ at each booth, but some people like to give out candy or a small treat to all players.
Written instructions are included for each game with suggestions of how to chatter about the character quality with the players.
Some games require a table, and others require floor space. Tables are not included.
It is suggested to have two volunteers run each game. For smaller crowds, one is enough with a few floaters.
The rent of the games will be quoted for single-day use.
