Connecting Determination to the Science Curriculum

The Return of the Salmon

Salmon are hatched from eggs that are in the bottom of a river bed. Once hatched, salmon swim downstream to the ocean. When salmon are 4 years old, they get the urge to swim back to the spot in the river where they were hatched to lay their own eggs. As you can imagine, swimming upstream is very difficult so salmon must practice Determination on the swim back.
