Build Trust to Manage Chaos

Employees need to have high trust levels in their leadership during the chaos caused from rapid change or uncertainty. To build this trust, leaders need to rely on several other character qualities:

Confidence: Leaders need to have a track record of having the skills and the knowledge of the company and industry so that employees have confidence to follow.

Compassion: Leaders need to care so employees know their needs will be considered in decisions regarding changes .

Sincerity: Leaders need to be transparent about what is happening, communicating frequently, walking the talk, so that employees feel connected to the outcome.

When these things are missing, it is hard to build trust so employee engagement, productivity and turnover suffers. Relationships between employees can become less collaborative.
