For the Faithful
Respect
Honoring others by treating them with dignity
Our current faith‑based resources are written from a Christian perspective, but we know that many other faith traditions also nurture strong character, and we want to honor and uplift that diversity.
We are actively seeking contributors from additional faith traditions who would like to help us expand this section. If you are interested, we would be grateful to partner with you.
Respect honors the dignity of every person made in God’s image.
When we treat others with care and humility, we reflect Christ’s love and strengthen fellowship. Respect creates a community where people feel safe, valued, and heard.
Essay
God’s Creations Deserve Respect
by Jill Tomey
Everything and everyone that God created has value; therefore, we are expected to respect everything and everyone. For things, this respect takes the form of care of ours and others’ possessions. For people, this means treating others with honor and dignity. That can be easy when we are respecting those whom we love or those that respect us. It gets difficult to be respectful to someone we do not like or someone who has different views, but this is exactly what we are called to do. The faithful understand that respect is not something that needs to be earned to be given. By being a child of God, we all deserve respect.
This month, how will you practice seeing God in others?
