Longitude

In the mid-1800s, leaders met from all over the world and agreed on a line going north and south through Greenwich, England, as 0 degrees longitude, the Prime Meridian. This enabled time to be standardized around the world. Most progress in science and transportation could not have taken place without this standard of time.
