IMMANUEL UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

A Model "Church of Character"

November 21, 2001

Immanuel United Methodist Church is a long established church of approximately 1200 parishioners spanning all ages. The church is a regional church located in Lakeside Park in Northern Kentucky, 15 miles south of Cincinnati. The general region is predominately white. Parishioners come from some 35 communities in Northern Kentucky. The congregation is predominately middle-class, professional and white, but is intentionally broadening its outreach with both staff and programming. Full-time staff include Senior Pastor Paul Brunstetter, an associate pastor (small group development), church administrator, and ministers for children, youth and music.

Congregational services include four Sunday morning worship services (one multi-media, contemporary), Sunday School for all ages, and on Wednesday evenings, a dinner followed by elective studies for children, youth and adults. About 10% of the congregation (and growing) participate in fellowship-support-study small groups during the week.

Examples of outreach to the community include its visitation to church visitors, ministry of home repairs to neighbors in need, housing of homeless one week bi-monthly, partnering with an Afro-American congregation of 200 in nearby Covington, and sponsoring of a church in Russia.
